Thursday June 5th, 2008 6 - 10pm $5.00 cover donation Special drinks and food purchases will be donated to Sebastian SCID, Severe Combined Immuno deficiency, is often called “bubble boy disease”. It became widely known during the 1970’s and 80’s, when the world learned of David Vetter, a boy who lived for 12 years in a plastic, germ-free bubble. Karin and Enrique Kunze-Guaneros,are going through exactly this nightmare. Their son is very sick, he is known to be the boy in the plastic bubble. Sebastian Luis, called Sebi, is a beautiful boy with gray eyes, amazing smile, and only 10 months old. But unfortunately,he has SCID called also “bubble boy disease”, extremely rare and dramatic condition. For Sebi, every day and every hour is a fight to survive infections. He was born with a dead immune system, meaning that he has to live in sterile conditions or risks picking up a life-threatening infection. Sebi will have to go through chemotherapy to destroy what few cells he has left for immune system before the transplant …and after the transplant he will be extremely susceptible to any type of germs. If the transplant goes well he will start develop an immune system, but he has to live in the right environment and constant and extreme medical care. Sebi will have to live in a house that is sterile and that can cost a small fortune. All carpets need to be removed & replaced with hardwood flooring, the heating and A/C systems need to be updated to include special filtering of the air, and the bathrooms need to be remodeled to eliminate any mold of fungus. This and the constant medical care is an economical challenge from day to day. But this is not the worst thing. Imagine how the parents feel, the constant fear and uncertainty. They have another boy, 3 years old and he is robbed from his childhood as well. Karin and Enrique live with hope from day to day. Every day that he does well brings happiness and joy to his family. Helping Sebi’s family will mean everything to them: being able to support all the costs and purify their home. Sebi’s life depends on it. Please help us to have a safe and “germ free” environment for Sebastian to come home to. • Traders Mill Grill and Bar • 5650 W. 86th Indianapolis, IN 46278 Join Us a fundraiser for Sebi www.lovebubbleboy.com If you cannot attend, but still want to help, donations can be made online www.lovebubbleboy.com |
